Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics on this website, which records data about the site's visitors (i.e. you).

Google Analytics records information such as:

  • The website you came from to get here: did you come here directly, follow a link from another site, find us via a search engine or through social media, etc.
  • How long you stay on the site for: are you the kind of person who just likes to look at pictures, or do you spend hours studying our club championship standings trying to work out what the hell is going on?
  • What kind of device you are using to access the site: are you accessing the site from a phone, tablet, desktop computer? What operating system is running? Which web browser are you using? etc.
  • Lots of other stuff - it's really quite Big Brother-ish!

What do we do with your data?

All we use this information for is to try and get a better picture of who comes to visit our website, so we can make better decisions about the content that we put on the site and also the activities that we do as a club. Ultimately, we want more people to come and visit our website and to come and join our running club!

We will also use this information to compile aggregate statistics about the people who visit our site: in other words, we're gathering this information so that the bloke who runs the website can bore other committee members to death for a few minutes each month!

Suffice to say, we do not use this information to try and identify individuals or their behaviour - it's all about the bigger picture.

This activity all falls within the bounds of the Google Analytics Terms of Service.
